Combination Skin: How to Take Care of It?

Skin Care product online

Can't fit in the group of oily skinned people and can't really reside in the dry skin category either? You may have a Combination skin!

You can identify on your own or can visit a dermatologist to help you classify the type of your skin. If the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) of your face is relatively oily than the rest of the face and your cheeks are flaky and dull, you have a Combination skin. Having a shiny and oily T-Zone is often referred to as a sign of the oily skin. But if the rest of the face is matte dry, then it can be a typical case of combination skin. Combination skin is comparatively more difficult to deal with, but it is not impossible to get a working skincare routine for it. Careful and regular use of products especially suitable for your skin type can help you and your everyday skin problems. You might need to shift between different products, at alternate days or morning and night, to keep your skin fresh and young. Or start using a spot treatment. There are a high number of chances that you will have to use one product on your T-zone and another around your cheeks. The key here is to find what's best for your skin. As there is no particular way to make a formula that works for all skin types, especially combination skin, you will have to undergo a lot of trials.

Skin Care Routine for Combination Skin

There are no right ways to take care of your skin, but there sure are a few wrong ways. The most basic mistake that a lot of people make is the skincare product lineup. They may use the products without any particular routine or may layer them on the skin the wrong way. Either way, it can make your skin more prone to damage. Make it a habit to use the products correctly, and if they require a specific wait time, you stop for a break before layering on another one on the skin.

Cleanse

The first thing your skin should meet with is a splash of lukewarm water. Then, wash your face with a mild and gentle cleanser. Do not overdo it. You may want to cleanse the oily areas of your facial skin more than the dry zones.

Apply a vitamin C serum rich in antioxidants to your face and leave it on for some time to let it penetrate your skin. Antioxidants in the serum fight free radicals and protect your skin against the damage of the UV rays

Spot Treatment

Chances are your skin is acne-prone. Therefore, if you generally deal with such issues, you may want to visit a dermatologist and take advice. Your dermatologist may recommend you using a spot treatment cream. The next step in your skincare routine should be putting on the spot treatment on the required areas. Generally, the areas with acne scars or pigmentation require treatment.

Moisturize

Here comes the tricky part. Combination skin is the mixture of both oily and dry patches. You may want to moisturize those areas more. Remember, the oily areas on the skin still wish to get moisturized. So, make it a habit to moisturize twice at least a day, once in the morning once at bedtime.

Face Masks

Apart from your daily skincare regime, there are a few things that you should do to keep your skin healthy and glowing. Exfoliate your skin with a mild exfoliator twice a week at minimum and treat your skin once a  face mask at least once a week. Face Masks help in multiple ways, depending on the elements they comprise. They hydrate, deeply scrub, exfoliate, and provide your skin with the essential nutrients.
